The Institute of Security and Forensic Studies Nigeria hosted a strategic collaboration meeting with the Police Community Relations Committee, Nasarawa State Command, on Wednesday, 25th March 2026, at the Conference Hall of the Institute’s Head Office.
The meeting brought together distinguished representatives from both organizations to discuss partnership strategies aimed at strengthening professional security training, community engagement, and national development initiatives.
First Session: Opening Remarks and Formal Welcome
The meeting commenced with an opening session delivered by Ms. Happiness Okon, who served in the capacity of National Supervisor, College of Oil and Gas Exploration Technology Nigeria, and also functioned as the Moderator and Acting Secretary for the meeting.
In her opening remarks, she formally greeted distinguished guests, respected officers, and esteemed members present, warmly welcoming representatives from both institutions.
She outlined the purpose of the meeting, emphasizing the importance of strengthening collaboration, enhancing security awareness, and building sustainable partnerships between the Institute and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC)

Following the completion of the welcome and recognition of dignitaries, she formally invited the Vice Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee, Nasarawa State Command, Ibrahim Babayo, to deliver the next session.
Second Session: Address by the Vice Chairman, PCRC Nasarawa State Command.
The second session was delivered by Ibrahim Babayo, Vice Chairman of the PCRC Nasarawa State Command and Founder of Friends of Police Nigeria.
In his address, he expressed appreciation to the Institute for its prompt response to PCRC’s collaboration request and provided historical insights into the formation and operations of the PCRC.
He noted that:
The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) was established in 1984 to bring policing closer to communities.
PCRC operations have been particularly active in the South-South regions, focusing on grassroots security engagement.
He further explained that:
The Friends of Police Nigeria initiative was established in 2008 to support vulnerable populations and strengthen community security awareness because research findings has indicated that poverty and lack of empowerment contribute significantly to increased criminal activities in the society.
He emphasized that the primary objective of PCRC is to engage communities effectively by: Understanding community demographics, identifying key groups to engage with, and determining effective communication strategies. This led them to utilize AI tools to identify reputable institutions capable of supporting their operational objectives which ultimately led to the identification of the Institute of Security and Forensic Studies Nigeria.
Third Session: Response by the Director General
The Director General expressed appreciation to Ibrahim Babayo for his dedication and proactive contributions toward national security development.
In his remarks, he highlighted that the Institute is committed to delivering professional training in security and forensic studies and remains positioned to support national security advancement.
He described the proposed collaboration as timely and highly welcomed, assuring PCRC representatives of the Institute’s readiness to establish a structured partnership with them.
Key commitments made included:
· Issuance of an official approval letter of partnership.
· Provision of both online and on-site training programs.
· Deployment of qualified trainers.
· Integration of PCRC trainers and curriculum into the Institute’s curriculum
· Development of structured partnership frameworks
Interactive Session and Professional Contributions
The meeting proceeded into an interactive session, where several stakeholders contributed valuable insights.
Mr. Philip, State Auditor of the PCRC, commended the Institute’s futuristic disposition and forward-thinking approach, particularly in the area of cybersecurity and forensic education.
He emphasized the importance of adapting to modern security challenges emphasizing that fleeing is no longer the solution to insurgencies hence, there is need for organizations to synergize and work together. He also introduced the Train-the-Trainers Program, which aims to equip personnel with the capacity to train others within their respective communities.
Strategic Discussions and Recommendations

· Engagement with religious institutions such as churches and mosques to enhance grassroots outreach
· Expansion of community engagement through media platforms
· Establishment of sustainable financial frameworks
· Adoption of both physical classroom and online learning methods

Closing Session and Formalization of Partnership
The meeting concluded on a highly positive and collaborative note.
Miss Happiness Okon, serving as Acting Secretary, read out the aims and objectives of the Institute to PCRC representatives.

A major highlight of the meeting was the formal reading and presentation of the Approval Letter, which was officially handed over to Ibrahim Babayo, Vice Chairman of the PCRC Nasarawa State Command. Additional partnership materials necessary for operational collaboration were also presented to him.
This formal exchange marked the official commencement of a new phase of collaboration between the Institute of Security and Forensic Studies Nigeria and the Police Community Relations Committee, Nasarawa State Command.
